It's not easy
Ask almost any photographer and they will tell you the same...the hardest people to photograph is your own children. They do not tkae direction well, from me anyway. One of them hates having his picture taken at all. And another has someting against showing teeth. Here is a sad attempt. But it does show how different they all are.

Sneak peek
Just a sneak peek at Mondays session. This lovely lady is one of my contest winners. She arrived just the same as everyone else...very excited, a little nervous, and well prepared with wardrobe. I love when you ladies bring lots of stuff to choose from and play with. A few minutes into the session she was poseing and giving me the best expressions, with very little coaching. Looooove it.
 On with the peek.

Something new
Ok so I have this friend who I recently found out is an outstanding writer. And we have a few ideas that we are playing with. I asked him the other day to come here to my site, take a look at my boudoir gallery and write whatever inspires him. Here is one of the beautiful pieces he sent me. I LOVE it.

Just so you ladies know, it is now an option to have a custom poem added to your album. If you are interested just ask about it on the day of your session and I will fill you in on how it all works. But know that the poem is written just for your pictures, it will not be used again.

Feedback and comments are welcome and encouraged. I have a few more samples to add this week so check back for more.

A very big, very angry bird

When ever I see an osprey I feel the need to take it's picture. I don't know what my obsesion is with these birds but I love photographing them. Well driving around in colonial beach with my sister last Saturday I saw these nests and just HAAAAD to stop. My sister gets out and walks and talks with me while I am walking around this nest looking and snapping. And I realized this lovely bird not only spotted me but really wanted me to leave. First she was just screaming at me...

Then she gave me this little warning.

Then she started swirling around me. My sister said "um Sarah if she gets any lower I'm running back to the car!!" I told her to right on ahead I'll be right here shooting till I feel I'm done.

Photobucket

Look at her, she is giving me the stink eye!! And she has a fish tail in her talons. Not sure what she was going to do with that.

Photobucket

In this last shot she was right over my head. This was one of the last shots I took before leaving and moving on to the next nest.

This one was not so angry. She saw me, looked at me a few times and looked away again. And she had a few babies in there.

Strays
It seems like I am always bringing something home. And I'm not talking the usual cat or dog kind of stray either. Just a few summers ago I took the kids to the park and there was a little dove I stopped to take pictures of. I was sitting on the ground snapping away when I realized this little bird was closer to me than when I first started snapping. Before I knew it that little dove was actually in my lap. Then on my head. The kids got a real big kick out of it.
Then when it was time to go, I was loading kids in car seats and a loud tweet right next to my head made me jump. I turned to look and sure enough it was that same bird sitting on my door. I tried to ignore it and got in the drivers seat. As I started the engine that stupid little bird got right on my dash and rode there all the way home. It hung out on the front porch while we were out side. And when we would go inside it flew up into a tree...or so we thought. We would go back outside and it would fly back down and darn near land on us. Well the kids decided to name it. They said it likes to cuddle so we should name it cuddles. Another jumped in and said it also likes to peck so maybe we should call it pecker. Ha ha right?!!? Sure enough the named it cuddle pecker. They were very young and didn't get the humor when the would share the story with an adult and they would chuckle at the name.
Anyway the point in that little story is at the water park today I saw something floating in the water. So I asked one of my girls to swim over and see what it was. She scooped up a butterfly. And sure enough it was alive. So I held it for a bit thinking it's wings would dry and it would fly away. NOPE. I went to sit in one of the pool side chairs and it climbed up my arm and up my neck. It just wouldn't go away. My guess is all that powder stuff it's supposed to have on it's wings was nearly gone. So you guessed it, we brought it home. I put it in some flowers in my garden. And that is where it stayed. And it is still there, it just won't leave. And if I put my finger in front of it, it climbs right on and just hangs out with me.
Well on to what you really came here for, pictures.

In these next 2 pictures you will see my right hand. Think about it for a minute. I challenge any one who owns an SLR (digital or film) to try to take a few shots that include your right hand in them. I'd like to see what you get. You also have to know that the auto focus on that camera is broken, so not only was I shooting left handed but I had to figure out how to focus one handed. Not bad huh?

Feeding time
I just love sitting outside and observing the things in nature. Especially critters. As anyone who visits here often knows I have been keeping a pretty close eye on this woodpecker hole in a tree in my front yard. I've had a time trying to catch mama bird as she feeds her babies. She drops and runs (or flies) away. For about 2 weeks or more I've heard the babies cries for food. Well today I caught a little one peeking it's little head out singing for mama to return. And I got both of them. Check it out.

And while waiting for this bird to return I looked down to relieve my neck and look at what I found. I swear I'm not just finding them...they are following me. They are EVERYWHERE.

Mystical mushrooms

I love mushrooms. Not sure why, I just find them interesting. I have a ton of pictures of my kids swimming and jumping into the pool yesterday. But my favorite image of the day is this mushroom growing near the pool with sand and rocks stuck all over it. Our trip to the pool was cancelled today due to 2 of the little ones having fevers. I'm just glad that other than the fevers they seem to be doing fine. Happy Tuesday everyone.

It's taken me a while but..
I finally got her. This woodpecker has been building this nest for a while and I finally got a picture. She is fast. I had to set up a chair in my yard, lens focused and ready. Because she only sits in this position for a second before she goes in there to feed her babies. And I know there are babies because everytime she went in there I could hear their little baby birdie cries of hunger.
